BLOG GIVEAWAY!!!

MY FIRST BLOG GIVEAWAY!!! I love the humor of Amy Sedaris. Some may find her comedy a bit rough around the edges but I think she's hilarious. When her latest book, Simple Times- crafts for poor people, hit the stands I raced to Barnes and Noble in hopes of owning a copy. Little did I know, this was to become a Christmas gift from one of my friends. So here it is, my abundance is now a possible gift for one of you!!!!!! Whoever posts an idea (I will pick the one I like the best) for a new craft that I may be able to utilize in a therapeutic setting for the geriatric population will receive this book in the mail. Winners will be picked on my birthday, March 26!!!!

Say Cheese!!!!!

We L-O-V-E cheese!!!! Mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano, Asiago and oh yes, Goat cheese. Lance thought it would be fun if we tried to make our own so as of yesterday, we are officially makers of Goat cheese. See recipe section for complete list of needed supplies.

The supplies needed are of course, goat's milk, vinegar (or lemons) and any herbs/spices you want to flavor the cheese with.
Pour the milk into a pot (not aluminum, we don't want a reaction) and stir until it gets to a rolling boil. KEEP STIRRING we don't want it to burn. Add the acid (lemons or vinegar) and continue to stir. You will want to remove the pot from the heat during this step. Once you notice the curds separating from the whey pour cheese mixture into strainer lined with cheesecloth.
Try to drain most of the liquid from the cheese cloth and add any seasoning you want to use now. We chose to use red pepper flakes and sea salt
I would recommend letting it cool before you eat too much but we couldn't wait to try it.

YUMMY!!!!
