A NEW MISSion for this blog

Good evening all! As you know (those of you who have endured some of these unorganized posts), this blog hasn't exactly set the world on fire. I think the main reason (this is my story and I'm sticking to it) is due to the title I selected. The posts didn't seem to fit the blog so I have decided to change my direction and mission regarding future posts.

Drum roll please!!!! Girl in Front of the Lens is going to feature the talents, stories, needs, journeys and any other "human" factor about remarkable women that other wise may not be known in the blogging world. I'm very excited about the new direction regarding this blog and hope you will help bring these fabulous women into a new world.

If you have any suggestions/nominations for the first featured lady I'm all ears!

Dress up and take a walk!!

Where does the time go? I mean honestly, I feel like this is the time of year when I need to start saying "It's almost Christmas".....well maybe I'm being overly dramatic. However, it is prom season and since I was a little more involved in that sort of thing this year (insert photo of handsome son) it made me feel a bit under dressed for life. Who decides what is considered a special occasion in your life and what is considered the appropriate method for celebrating such occasion?

I've never been one to get "all dolled up" and prance around.....actually I used to vomit when my mother made me wear dresses to school (so I've been told) but I'm starting to have a change of heart.

I say wear whatever you want when you want and do it with reckless abandon. So go forth all, and celebrate the simple as you would the monumental! Get those high heels, black ties and bling....cause dangit, YOU HAVE SOME MEDIOCRE ERRANDS TO RUN!!!

Tacky Yard Art

I get sooo excited when warm weather comes along. I just want to stay outside put my hands in the dirt and plant as many things as I can. I'm also in love with yard sales and I usually purchase the obscure items no one else seems to care about. For instance, clear Christmas ornaments, left over paint, a sticker maker and bowling balls. Oh yes, that's right, bowling balls. In trying to keep with my (unspoken) promise to produce more crafts and use things I already have. I made some fun garden art yesterday and here is the result.
I purchased some colored glass discs from the Dollar Tree and commenced to gluing.
Don't worry, I had supervision while using the hot glue gun. I still have one bowling ball left. Any ideas?

Happy Easter

I hope each of you had a blessed Easter holiday this year. Our day was filled with fellowship and family. We enjoyed a nice meal and a slightly competitive game of Pit (I highly recommend this game). It's nice to be able to take time from our busy and hectic schedules to connect with friends and family. My wish is that you are able to reflect on your circumstances (whatever they may be) and find peace and joy in your life, even if things seem bleak. Have a pleasant Monday and I will see you soon.

April showers bring May flowers...

The weather around here has been very unpredictable lately. I have been itching to go on a hike so I can photograph the first wildflowers of Spring. Sadly, I haven't had the opportunity but that didn't stop me from making some funky flowers with my patients.

I bought the PT I work with a desk calendar with the hopes of converting him to an active environmentalist. Well, that didn't work but I managed to save the "days" and recycle the calendar pages. I had my patients randomly paint designs on several pages. Once the paint dried they cut various flower and leaf shapes. Add a little hot glue and you have yourself a colorful bouquet.

Happy birthday to me......

Last month I turned 38 years young and to celebrate the occasion we took a trip to Asheville........one of my absolute favorite places!!! We ate at Tupelo Honey (another favorite) and while we were there Dennis surprised me with a Tupelo Honey Cookbook. I must say.....those recipes rock!!! I loved the Tomato Pie recipe so much I thought I should share it with you. Enjoy!!
